Study question...if two surgeons are performing a surgery, they are partners. One removes a lesion from the middle cranial fossa and the other surgeon decompressed the auditory canal. Would they both use modifier 62 with the codes they use?

Mod 62 is to be used when two surgeons share a CPT code not a patient. If they can report their work with their own CPT code then they should do so and not use modifier 62. If they are doing different portions of one CPT code then they need to use modifier 62. I hope that helps.
